this is it. how am i supposed to fit all my love for tubelord into one single post like this? tubelord is my favourite band of all time. ALL TIME. i cannot measure the amount of love i feel for music when i throw on suffle and i land on an awesome song, just to proceed to an even more awesome song, just to proceed to an even MORE awesome song. it's something quite different. and tubelord are quite different. they are the best band in the world!
tubelord plays mathpop/rock, perhaps a bit post hardcore in the mix sometimes aswell. it's intense blended with insanely calm stuff, mindboggling highpitched singing and in the old ep's there's even yelling really loud into a microphone!!!
seriously, you cannot get enough of this wonderful trio, if not only for their loveable souls, jo, dave, and damien (and ex-bassist sean of course) are a talented bunch of people. catchy licks and genious guitarchords will have you rewind and go "what the hell was that?".

interview with the tubelord
alright, the interview with tubelord is here! the questions are amateur as hell, but it was fun in the long run! hope you guys enjoy.
It's time to reveal yourself! What is your name, and what do you do in tubelord?
I am the thief, the hoarder and exhibitioner.
So how and when did you form the band? Have you always kept the same members since that time?
We formed Tubelord in 2006. At this point in time, there have existed up to no more than six members of Tubelord, thus six incarnations of the band.
So who writes the music and lyrics?
I do.
What has been the biggest inspiration for songwriting for you?
http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=PUYdi43qXHc
You recently released your album called Our First American Friends. how has the recording process been like?
The process was our first experience of recording in a studio, the first two hours were spent being shocked and excited by doors with circular porthole windows in and a room with a table for placing our drinks and selection of books on, otherwise known as the Library of Fools.
Will you ever tour europe in the near future?
Yes, absolutely, definitely WILL be in the near future.
If you could pick one song from the past and re-record it, which one would you pick?
George Frideric Handel - The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba
Dave (I think) told me you're in the process of recording a 3 track EP. Do you have an approximate release date for this?
Unfortunately not yet, another single or two will be released prior to the EP seeing the light of day, BUT...It will be in 2010 and recording will be finished the week ending Friday 15th January.
If someone of you would develop some kind of nasty habit for something bad, who would be the first guy to call an intervention?
Dave.
Best experience that has happened in the band?
At every/any point when an idea materializes into a logically viable solution to a problem.
And to counter it, worst experience?
At every/any point when an idea fails to form a logical or viable solution to a problem.
Weirdest object/place a fan has asked you to sign?
A few weeks ago I was asked to sign a product used to supplement an absence that certain women experience when feeling insecure due to the minimal size of their breasts in comparison to models and 'beauty'. A construction of 'beauty' that the external pressures of a society enforces the person to believe that their femininity, womanhood and thus an identity of their 'self' as being, stems from the size of their breasts.
Someone, somewhere, has my name close to their heart.
Can you share some insider information about things to come?
Reading the Economist is like being a part of a super-secret society which is allowed to read the news before it becomes the 'news'. A suitable means for relating one another and the world to certain/specific/demographic hours in the day. Our society becomes external unreality in comparison with this paper pamphlet of socio-political transparencies in the palm of my hand.
Do you have some personal favourite bands in the same genres as tubelord?
We have a few friends over here and there which is cool. But generally speaking I prefer to visit Continental Europe rather than pay over £150 to stay in a chalet. I did this when I was a kid. Irregardless.....it's Butlins still.
What is your favourite chord?
I have no idea about chords, A lot of the songs may be capo'd and I've yet to play G.... in a car.
Anything else you'd like to say?

colour
colour is an amazing band from the kingston area, well, was. they no longer play together unfortunately, but they left behind an incredible album and a plenty good livevideo on beatcasttv. they play a kind of mathrock similar to the types of tubelord. i recommend getting a hold of their album Anthology as quick as you can.

circle takes the square
this is much much harder music than what i usually post here, but it's mathematical and it's what i like.
been listening to this band for quite some time. this is what i'd like to call real screamo, even though it is very progressive. odd time signatures is something you will run into in almost every song. the music is unstructured, but in a good way. the lyrics are ingenial and the vocals itself is filled with emotions. this is not something the average joe can sit down and listen to, because of the points i just brought up. but if you want to listen to something that will change you, grab their fullength As The Roots Undo and listen to it in a dark room with nothing but you and your mp3player.
they are currently recording their new album titled Ritual Of Names, and it is going to be amazing.

the fall of troy
oh man, where do i start? this band has been my favorite band for i can't remember how long. these guys never failed to amaze me. it started out a cold winter night, when a friend of mine played tom waits for me. at first i thought it was like listening to unstructured noise. i was proved wrong when my friend sent me songs to my computer, i believe it was ghostship part 1 and 4 and 5, tom waits, circus and mouths like sidewinder missiles.
after listening to this for a couple of days, i was hooked. i had never heard anything like this before. and realizing how young they were, i was amazed how they could create music like this. guitarist thomas erak, drummer andrew forsman and bassist tim ward (who was sadly replaced by frank black because his mental health took damage from being in a band he once loved).
all their albums and ep's are the most solid stuff i've ever heard, except for the newest album, "in the unlikely event". they apparently decided to go into a completely different direction with this album. most songs are very very good, but there are some weak parts and they are very disappointing. i will still listen to the old albums and think back to the band whose all albums i loved.
if you like chaotic post-mathrock-hardcore-metal, then this band is something for you. unfortunately has no songs on spotify, but you can find most if not all on youtube.

abe vigoda
abe vigoda is a band that my fellow dave in tubelord showed me today. they play a strange kind of pop/punk, it's soft but at the same time it hooks you at the right spot for the music to stick to your brain like a messy.. mess. they have two albums on spotify, and you should definitely check them out.
albums "Kid City" and "Skeleton" are up on spotify for listening.

rooftops
alright, so i better kick this blog in some direction, i hope it'll be forward.
a good friend if mine tipped me about a band called rooftops. he said i'd probably like it, and he was very much correct. rooftops write simple and straightforward music that won't challenge your brain in any way at all. oh who am i kidding, it has odd time signatures and tempo changes. just like i want it!
rooftops play a blend of mathpop and rock, and is sure to make your ears happy to be there on your head.
"A Forest Of Polarity" is out now.

strictly nothing
starting over again, this time in english for my friends outside of sweden. i'm turning this blog into a blog about music i stumble upon, and i'll probably sneak in some games that i like to play, perhaps youtube videos aswell.
i have an interview with tubelord scheduled for 7pm on sunday, which will hopefully be very very fun and enlightening. until that, i will try to write about other bands that i'm quite fond of. some bands will probably have reappearances if i like them alot. just sit tight, and enjoy the ride.
